The Kansas City branch of the Federal Reserve hosted a “Meet The Fed” event recently and we were able to attend. There were different departments of the Fed there discussing what each of their roles are and how they contribute to the whole picture. Did you realize that the KC Federal Reserve is the main source for technology for the entire Federal Reserve system and part of the Treasury as well? About 1/3 of the employees at the KC Fed are IT. Chief Information Officer, Brian Faros, was also in attendance. He gave a short speech about the impact the KC Fed has on the entire system. He also mentioned that they plan to increase IT hiring by 300% in the coming years. Aside from the “Meet The Fed” party, they were also giving free tours of the building, which is also free to the public regularly.
