Yesterday afternoon we attended a regular continuing education event sponsored by the Financial Planning Association(FPA). After going over some new regulations we listened to Stephanie Kelton speak. Stephanie Kelton, Ph.D. is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Economics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She is also Editor-in-Chief of the top-ranked blog New Economic Perspectives, a published author, and has been featured on MSNBC as well as NPR. As with all economists, Dr. Kelton had some interesting insights to the American economy from her perspective. One thing she presented was her research of patterns that show when the government’s budget was at a surplus the individual household’s deficit was larger. An interesting point to consider.
